  • Fourth of July (Do you remember?)

Do you remember how we held hands as we ran through the thunderstorming rain. Do you remember that Fourth of July evening?  I remember it as if it were just last week. We ran and we stopped under a tree which provided some shelter from the storming lightning and thunder. You said you were scared,…

  • Set yourself Free (or begin to live the true life)

Its the famous Genie in the bottle. You see it in the distance, you pick it up and its vibrating. There is a sound as if its about to burst open. So you open the top and you set him free. Once you set him free he can grant you your three most cherished wishes.…

  • Wrestlers of Morality

They congregate in hundred million dollar temples filled false piety, false gods and self-serving prayers. Hatred is a uniter for them – because hatred is a defensive response to fear and aren’t we all scared about losing everything we have?

  • Rainbow like a Scar

I should have been a healer, I feel I have broken way too many things over the years which can never be re-assembled.  Puzzle pieces missing, scar on my chest and a gaping hole where I used to live.

We are tainted with those feelings of ignorant hatred, racist thoughts, although tucked away in the back of our minds, despite our best intentions to expunge them, still appear from time to time.

  • Abstract Subtractions

Water Street – “no parking signs” as solicitations are solicited by solicitors with yellow skin and tight pants. Across the way some sort of anonymous meeting has just let out of the basement of a church – you can tell by the smokers and the coffee cups in their hands that something is ending or…

  • Caravan of Jokers

There’s a crossroad on the highway, chain gangs moaning in tunes I now know and I hum along. I kick away the pebbles which try and obstruct the path towards a destination that seemed so close but remains elusive. The pebbles have graduated into stones, then rocks and now boulders which obstruct my passage.

  • Still I Think of You

So, there is this small cafe – just beyond that winding road which connects Morrison Street with New Amsterdam. I’ll be sitting there, in the corner, taking deep breaths and sips of my cup of cappuccino. Perhaps I will also have a jelly roll in front of me just for the contrast in colors.

  • Poem for You

I see her – from across the floor which is littered with pretenders, dancers and pollution caused by the sounds of false laughter and false bravado.
