There is the clown, the actor, the one who sings.
There is the sun, the poet, the lover.
Where is the moon, the white light shining on a dark street?
Where is the river, to lead us home?
We stand upon the street and search the skyline for Superman.
The bridge, the ferry, the tunnel and the sky. A walkway upon the water, a kiss that sends you flying, a wave, a smile and a hello.
In the reverie the world turns over: a single leaf floats towards the sky, while the roots of a tree stay planted firmly into the earth. Then a doorbell, an open door and a welcoming smile.
And the clown, the tramp, the vaudeville entertainer — all of them one man — is credited with this: “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
King Solomon said it harder: “Sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness of face the heart is made glad.”
I find myself in a home with covered up mirrors and people sitting on the floor.
No words to express other than a smile, a hug and a blessing in the name of the departed.
A King, a Tramp, an audience of one. A long road, no direction, only exit ramps and entrances.
A smile, a teardrop and the sounds of the king and the tramp laughing in the distance.
